Are you maintaining a healthy status quo?
Every day we make decisions…concerning our health…decisions with long term health consequences…losing weight, or getting in shape…begins with a decision…
When you hesitate to make a decision about your health and fitness…you’ve already made a decision…a decision to maintain the status quo…of not losing weight and not getting shape… but this decision…is it really the one you want to make?
Yes it’s easy, and comfortable to maintain your current status quo because you are used to the familiarity of it…so it is by default that you remain out of shape and overweight…
One reason you don’t change the current status quo…is that in doing so there would be consequences…a focus on negative consequences can hold you in the grip of status quo…and focusing on the negative aspects of change…only keeps change from happening…discomfort, effort, pain, discipline, sore burning muscles, is where change happens…so you remain where you are…overweight and out of shape…the consequences of maintaining status quo…
What are the short and long term, consequence, of the current status quo in your life… is this status quo actually worth maintaining…is your health being affected…are you overweight…are you out of shape…is this the status quo you’ve been guarding as if it’s some sort of valued treasure…it may come as a shock to you but actually your status quo may actually be a pathetic situation that a healthy and fit person would go out of their way to avoid…would you avoid your own status quo if you weren’t already in it…is your current status quo a situation you would willingly choose to enter…
If you wouldn’t choose to enter into your current status quo…plain and simple…it means you want to get out…perhaps you are still in denial about that…if you are reading this and you are overweight and out of shape…it’s time to stop playing games and acknowledge the fact that you need to change your current status quo…and you need to do it now…not tomorrow…i always say it’s a new day when you choose to see it that way…well it’s time to see a new status quo…starting today…
Ask yourself this…where in terms of health and fitness will you most likely be in 20 years if you continue to maintain your current status quo… let’s hear it…say it out loud…a verbal description of what your physical appearance will look like…a verbal description of what your health and fitness will feel and be like…now I ask you…is that really what you want to look and feel like in 20 years…this isn’t the time to play games with yourself…of course you don’t have complete knowledge of what is to come…it’s not too difficult to figure out what your life is likely to look like in 20 years if you keep doing what you’ve been doing…in maintaining your current status quo…
Let me ask you this…how far do you think you would get in your career if you had unhealthy or undisciplined work habits…well the same applies to your eating habits, exercise habits and health habits…do you set priorities and stick to them at work…do you continue to develop and refine you work skills…so why don’t you have health priorities…why don’t you have fitness priorities…weight loss priorities…
Are you lazy and slothful at work…are you passive and timid at work…do you squander your time on unimportant tasks at work…if the answer is NO! then why do you give your power away to excuses instead of taking full responsibility for the current status quo of the health and fitness in your life…
The greatest predictor of where you will end up in relation to health and fitness in your life…number one is your self-discipline…the more disciplined you are right now…the healthier and happier your future will look and be like…you create your own health and fitness destiny…through and by the health decisions you make moment to moment…
In the long run…being lazy and undisciplined will hurt you in more ways than one…as will denial of responsibility in your life…you are responsible for your own health and fitness…to deny this is simply a character weaknesses that will lead to an unhealthy and unhappy outcome down the road…
The quality of your character is in direct relation with the quality of your life and the status quo you’re experiencing right now is the direct result of the quality of your character…if you want to improve the quality of your health and fitness…if you want to improve the quality of your status quo…if you want to improve the quality of your life…then improve the quality of your character…be more disciplined…more generous… more organized…more integrity…more awareness…be more respectful and yes more loving…in relation to how you live…and the quality of your character will evolve and manifest health and happiness into your life…ultimately it’s not your career or your relationships or your position or your income level that determine your destiny…it’s the quality of your character… and as you improve the quality of your character…you will stop tolerating the aspects of your status quo that you currently accept…and the quality of your life will change…and health and fitness will be one of many of the results of that change in the quality of your character…
